After giving helping hands to Hungarian flood victims through the Országlánc aid campaign and with the HUF 15 million support to the National Alliance Foundation, MOL Group also helps in Pakistan where the Group has significant operations.
This is the biggest flood catastrophe of Pakistan in the last 100 years, after the previous weeks’ monsoon rains due to the flood thousands houses, bridges, roads were collapsed and people remained without their homes.
MOL Pakistan Oil & Gas dispatched the first consignment of relief items to help people in the flood-affected districts of Kohat during the weekend. The first convoy comprising 7 trucks, carried nearly 23 tons of relief material that includes tents, clothes, food and water to the most affected areas of Kohat. The value of the first aid is USD 35 000 and MOL Pakistan will be organizing more relief efforts with further evaluation of the situation and requirement of the specific communities. Moreover employees of MOL Pakistan have started a voluntary support effort on their own, which would augment the second consignment of relief goods to be dispatched by the company within the next 10-15 days.
MOL Pakistan also hosts and gives local logistic support to the Hungarian colleagues of Baptist Aid Service.
MOL Pakistan has always been at the forefront to respond at the time of natural disasters. It donated USD 500 000 in the aftermath of the tragic earthquake of October 2005 and it also helped victims of the floods in 2006 and the earthquake in Baluchistan. Furthermore last year similar relief supplies were sent to the displaced people of the Malakand district.
