The Foundation New Europe of MOL called for applications in its programme “MOL Healing Children” for the sixth time in 2010. Applications could be presented by NGOs for adventure and art therapy programmes that are organised in favour of chronically ill or physically or mentally handicapped children aiming their development or rehabilitation. The interest in the calls for applications was extremely high this year. We have received 123 applications for an amount of 200 Million HUF.The assessment of the tenders consisted of two rounds. After the pre-selection of projects, a jury expressed his opinion. In that board we found Dr András Huszár, president of the National Association of Family Pediatricians, Ms Antónia Erős, founder of the foundation „A Drop of Attention" and Ms Klára Béres, director of the Béres Foundation. Final decision was taken by the board of the New Europe Foundation. In the decisions of the board of trustees 31 organisations have been supported with an amount of 43 Million HUF. The supported projects will be realised all around the country. The organisations by their adventure and arts therapy activities can help chronically ill children to better struggle mental and physical stress caused by the hospital residence period. Therapies serve the development of mentally and physically handicapped children for whom this is a daily need lifelong. The activities intend among others to help children’s self-expression and communication or raise awareness of their emotions. Besides the classic art and adventure therapy programmes tenders bring new therapy methods year by year. Such a newness is the fairytale therapy of the „Smile Foundation” organized in favour of visually impaired children or children with speech disorder in Debrecen and in Győr. Also appeared the equine assisted psychotherapy among the supported projects, which aims at helping children with tumor who are already on the way of being cured in the Children Clinic in Tűzoltó Street. The Foundation New Europe make a contract with the supported organisations, which receive the support as a pre-financing before starting their projects. The MOL Healing Children programme have been helping altogether more than 180 organisations in an amount of more than 230 Million HUF since 2005.
