The MOL Talent Support Programme called for proposal in arts and sciences category this year and got around 300 applications. Applicants were young people aged 10 to 18 who had already great successes in the fields of music, art or natural sciences. The Board of the New Europe Foundation provided support for purchase of equipment or travel expenses to a total 73 young people and groups for a total of 14,5 million HUF.
The MOL Talent Support Programme supports the professional development of talented young artists and scientists aged 10 to 18 who have already achieved outstanding results in national and international competitions. This year the foundation received around 300 applications in 30 fields of arts and sciences.
The applications were evaluated by a jury which consisted of László Baán, General Director of Museum of Fine Arts, Márton Devich music journalist, Zsuzsanna Esztó pianist, Ágnes Gereben literature historian and Péter Várkonyi engineer, professor of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Final decision was taken by the Board of the New Europe Foundation. The key decision criteria were achieved results to-date and the degree of need. Among the applications we found many classical music applications. The wind instruments excelled among the applicants who requested the most support for instrument purchase this year. In the field of natural science, the majority of young people called for an own computer or laptop.
Among others,
László Váradi (15) young pianist from Jászkisér could receive support according to the decision of the Board. He has been the member of the Outstandingly Talented Class of the Budapest University of Music for 3 years and now, MOL helps him to get a piano on his own. The
National Team for the 7th International Junior Science Olympiad received support to cover their travel expenses. The members of the team are students who have already won the national competitions in fields of natural sciences. In each of the previous years, Hungary's team has brought home a medal from the Junior Olympiad which shows not only the talent of the young people but also the self-sacrificing work of their teachers who had helped their preparations.

Lili Felméry among others. She has just debuted on the stage of the Hungarian State Opera.
