MOL Group's Chairman-CEO has been awarded the Commander's Cross with Star of the Republic of Hungary's Order of Merit.
On 22 October, Pál Schmitt, President of the Republic of Hungary, decorated Zsolt Hernádi, MOL Group Chairman-CEO with the Commander's Cross with Star of the Republic of Hungary's Order of Merit at a ceremony in the Parliament building.
Zsolt Hernádi received this prestigious decoration for his efforts in diversifying and improving the security of Hungary's energy supplies and those of the Central & East European region as well as his contribution to development of the MOL Group business model.
On the occasion of receiving the award, the Chairman-CEO said: "As a result of the successful development, over the past decade, of MOL Group, it has become one of the most significant enterprises in Central & Eastern Europe. The Group is market leader in Hungary, Slovakia and Croatia through its members which are all dominant strategic players in those economies. Our regional presence shapes not only our business operations but our geopolitical philosophy, strategy and responsibility as well. I believe that this prestigious award is also recognition of the results MOL Group has achieved in the fields of business and corporate social responsibility."

Zsolt Hernádi was born on 30 November 1960 in Tarján. He is an economist by profession, earning his degree at Budapest University of Economics in 1986. He started his professional career at Unicbank and then held various positions at the Commercial & Credit Bank between 1989 and 1994, becoming Deputy General Manager in 1992. Mr. Hernádi was then CEO of the Hungarian Saving Cooperative Bank between 1994 and 2001. In addition, he was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Hungarian Banking Association between 1995 and 2001.
Zsolt Hernádi has been a member of MOL Group's Board of Directors since 24 February 1999. He was elected Chairman of the Board on 7 July 2000 and has been Chairman-CEO of MOL Group since 11 June 2001. Since then, he has also been a member of the European Round Table of Industrialists. He was declared an Honorary Freeman of the city of Esztergom in 2007 and made Honorary Professor of Budapest Corvinus University in September 2009.
