Knowledge Management

The industry we are operating in requires complex and multidisciplinary skills. That is why we have developed the frames of knowledge sharing, in which the experience can be transferred in an organized way in order to turn individual knowledge into organizational intellectual capital. We started our Knowledge Management program for this purpose in 1999. In the last 10 years the role of the department responsible for the KM program has changed significantly parallel to the development of this science:

  • Phase 1 (from 1999 to 2003) Emphasis on Technology: as part of information-technological development we collected the already existing knowledge into databases and shared the common part through our intranet portal.
  • Phase 2 (from 2004 to 2008) People in Focus: beside the collected and widely accessible knowledge, the support of collaboration got a lot of attention and we introduced a SharePoint based Collaboration Portal for supporting the virtual teamwork.
  • Phase 3 (from 2009) Widening the Focus: Technology, People, Process: In 2009 our function of strategic importance was reorganized under the name of Project Coordination and Knowledge Management. Our aim is to hold together those initiatives and practices which turn the organizational knowledge capital into value-added resources, and support the daily work of employees and their efficiency improvement, while reducing information overload. The reorganized department supports those knowledge management systems and processes, which help our colleagues to share their valuable knowledge more easily and get needed information more quickly and simply.

The basis of our development conception is knowledge awareness. Our aim is that our colleagues get to know and use the already existing knowledge, information and systems. The responsibility of KM organization is also the implementation of the security and knowledge management based data classification.
We can not really manage knowledge itself, what we are doing is the optimization of company environment for knowledge sharing and utilization to be more efficient and to exploit the benefits of virtual collaboration more.
