The core values as they are laid in our Code of Ethics, include amongst others respect for human rights, ethical business practices, denunciation of corruption and negative discrimination all of which we apply to any individual, corporation or organization associated with us.

It is of paramount importance for our support to achieve positive effect in the society at large. For this aim we place special emphasize on supporting self- initiated, structured programmes, with well laid-out goals and content in place of ad hoc support. Based on their activities, we have selected preferred field for support both for sponsorship and donation activities. Those are children in need, talented, and the disadvantaged as well as local communities’ health, cultural, sport related initiatives and areas connected to our company’s professional and environmental protection activities

We base our decisions on professional, strategic and ethical stand points; our social responsibility programs are assisted by independent professional committees.

Our policies are valid internationally in the entire operational area of the MOL Group; we expect adherence from all member companies and employees. We endeavour to provide authentic information, we regularly report on our performance in our publications and on the Internet. Accordingly we only participate in well-regulated and transparent co-operations; aspiring for the same in our own business conduct. In order to preserve the trust placed in our company, we have transparent, regulated sponsorship system; our processes work along pre-established steps and principles. Our core principle is trust, however a partner abuses it we find it important to retort and we exclude the offending partner from any futures co-operations.

Following and integrating the principles of sustainable development is part of our business strategy. MOL is committed to contributing to the realization of sustainable development. We have applied its principles to our corporate giving activities as well. Consequently, we aim to integrate to the extent possible all economic, societal and environmental considerations.
The principle of enhancement of environmental consciousness
As a responsible company, we have to attend to the care of our environment literally and figuratively, consequently we support initiatives that are born of the principle of environmental consciousness and are pay special attention to the effective energy usage, preserving and protecting the environment.
As a multinational company our corporate giving activities extend to every country where we conduct business activities. Given that our company delivers its activities on Group level and our strategy and planning is determined accordingly, the level of local support depends on the goals set and business activities for that particular country as well as on the local opportunities and the company’s local financial situation.

We are crafting strategies for corporate giving in accordance with our basic principles and values as well as our business strategy in order to serve the interest of value creation for society at large as well as the company.

MOL is integral part of society, not separate from it. We conduct ourselves to live up to societal expectations by ensuring the high quality products and services, by preserving supply security, and by our corporate giving activities as well.
The principle of value creation
We prefer those co-operations, in which the support generates a value creating chain-reaction, by attracting further supports and funds for a good cause. Our aspiration is to generate 4 times value of each invested support by the company. (In case of Hungarian Green Belt Programme, 1 HUF support of MOL generated 4 HUF by other financial gift, voluntary work and in-giving contribution.)
Equality, fair competition
Whenever possible, we strive to select candidates with a formal application process based on evaluation by a jury of professionals in the relevant field (e.g. Zöldövezet Pályázat).
With the co-operation of charitable organizations we extend support to those who are the most in need. According to its policy, MOL does not support private individuals. In Hungary, we forward their requests to charitable organizations, who select the most deserving cases according to their professional standards and to the extent of the support they receive from MOL.
Acknowledgement of talents
Beside the support of professional sportsmen and artists based on business exchange, we place high priority on supporting the next generation of young talent. We aspire to discover and support young talent. The selection process is done by a jury of professionals in the appropriate fields, which guarantees, that the funds will get to the most deserving and the most talented.
Maintenance of national and oil-industry traditions
We support the preservation of oil-industry traditions in regional, national and team-level in every country of our operational area.
The principle of “Doing rather than talking!”
We prefer to support programmes based on action rather than conferences where speeches are held about what should be done. The percentage of the support of the conferences must be no higher than 20% of the total.
The principle of community involvement
On one hand, we support those initiatives, which require the people’s active involvement; on the other hand, in the case of decisions based on an application process, we ensure the assertion of the communities’ interest by the involvement of a professional jury.
We conduct our business activities to live up to societal expectations to the best of our abilities. MOL, as an integral part of the society is mindful of general social interests, and endeavours to act especially conscientiously in environmental issues. Thus supporting cause connected to everyday activities of the MOL Group receives special attention.
Supporting the initiatives of the local communities who live in operational areas
Those living in the operational areas of the MOL Group (where the MOL Group has premises, plants or interests) enjoy special consideration for support allocations.

Such sport, cultural or other events that provide opportunities for participation for employees we ensure discounted ticket prices.
“Incubator” – The principle of initial push
We put a premium on giving the initial push to projects and initiatives, which require support only the launch phase, after which success of the program will create the conditions for becoming self-supporting.
Acknowledgement of quality and performance
As our products represent quality and outstanding performance in the business life, we try to patronize the projects or persons which/who symbolise those values in the other fields. The MOL grew from a government owed entity into an international company listed on the stock exchange using only its own resources. Because of this, we think it is very important to support those, who similar to us who applied their talent and worked persistently to reach success (similarity in the course of life).
The principle of the maximal publicity
We endeavour to select co-operations that enjoy high media interest, can reach a mass public and trigger a substantial response. We strive attain exclusive, main- or eponymous sponsor title and for the co-operation with a prestigious partner-sponsors.
The principle of result-dependent support
As a result-oriented company, we expect maximal effort from the athletes and competitors receiving our support allowing for the unique characteristics of the given sport. We encourage our athletes for better performance by a result-dependent sponsorship. Better results mean bigger publicity, which validate sponsorship increases in direct proportion to achievement. In the case of default, part of the sponsorship fee is not paid, since the counter value delivered from a PR stand point is lower.
Only a successful company can afford to help
A company makes contribution to the development of the country not only by being an employer, taxpayer, or investor, but also by its corporate giving activities. For these activities to continue or widen it is absolute indispensable for the company to remain profitable. Company leadership decided that 1% of the previous 3 years of the MOL Group net profit will be directed to these activities.
The principle of focusing, striving for maximally effective sponsorship plan
In order to maximize our financial resources we aim for a few substantial sponsorships rather than a lot of lesser ones. In the interest of achieving maximal effectiveness we review and reappraise our future and past project on yearly bases.
The principle of product-orientation
We prefer the support that can be partly or fully delivered by providing a MOL product – namely by fuel or merchandise voucher/card.
The principle of acquiring potential tax benefits
We prefer the support that delivers potential tax benefits, thus does not impair our financial results.
The principle of preparations
In a multinational company, time is needed for the decision process and for the utilization of the synergies. That is why we only support requests that are received at least three months prior to commencement.
The principle of incompatibility
Our sponsorship policy does not allow for direct financial support of a shareholder or an employee.
Free of religion and politics; adheres to strict ethical standards
The corporation does not support religious organizations, political goals and parties, and any such organizations or events that violate human rights, the interest of the common good, offend public morals, or represent any discriminative opinion.
