Budapest Spring Festival

MOL was the silver level sponsor of the largest art event, the „Budapesti Tavaszi Fesztivál” to be organised this year for the 30. time.

The main theme of the festival that is a major one also in a worldwide comparison was the „Meeting of Worlds” where native  Hungarian and foreign stars of the World of Art have given rendez-vous to each other representing different cultures around the globe.

The other two pillars of the event were the Erkel anniversary and the International Theatre Festival that was organised this year together with the National Theatre for the second time.
 The 200th anniversary of Erkel’s birth will be celebrated by staging 6 operas of the composer. Mindful of other anniversaries of the year numerous concerts will commemorate the bicentennial years of Schumann and Chopin, as well as the 50th anniversary of the death of Dohnányi with performances of the composers’ works by well-known artist. In addition to dance events, numerous Hungarian and world premières throughout the festival a thematic series entitled “I am a Roma” is organized to encourage and highlight the need for social responsibility. The primary aim of the series was to bring closer to the audience the artistic self expression of the roma minority.
Denmark was the guest country of the Festival in 2010. A wide variety of art forms will be represented amongst them the illustrious Royal Danish Ballet, Hotel Pro Forma an unusual and original formation breaking the boundaries between genres, along with known and well respected orchestras, formations such as Ars Nova Copenhagen, the Danish National Orchestra and the Trio con Brio Copenhagen introduced themselves.
