Tankcsapda (Tank Trap) Band

MOL supporting Hungary’s most popular rock band also in 2012, causing great pleasure to the rock music fans.

The Band was founded on 14 October 1989 and on this very day they enjoyed their first public appearance under this name, at Debrecen. The Band won the 2002 Golden Giraffe award in the modern rock category with the album „Agyarország” (Tusk Land). Its next album, issued in September 2003, was entitled “To live or To burn” and won a golden disc in less than two months.

The following year, Tankcsapda collected four prestigious awards for the album: the MAHASZ Fonogram Award, the VIVA Television Megawatt Aces Award, a special Hungarian Office for Copyright Protection best lyrics award recognising Lukács’ work and finally the Hungarian Radio eMeRTon Award.

More than 25 000 spectators attended the 13 concerts of the autumn 2004 jubilee concert tour. The Band gave 75-80 concerts a year during 2005 and 2006 attended by approximately 500 000 people.

In 2005, the Association of Hungarian Record Publishers (MAHASZ) selected the song “Forever” from the “To live or To burn” album as the Song of the Year at the Fonogram prize-giving ceremony.  Tankcsapda held its fourth packed-house concert on 27 December 2008 in the Főnix Hall, the concluding event of a nation-wide concert tour covering several thousand kilometres.

2009 was dedicated to the bands 20th birthday. Several concerts were held at summer festivals and perhaps the most outstanding event was the Island Festival: D-minus-one day was given to the Tankcsapda Band and the fantastic 2.5-hour long concert attracted more than 35 000 fans.

In 2010 the Band was closely linked to MOL throughout the year, touring all over the country with the promotion tour with the „Fill up your tank”, and „All the Best” records. The concert at Ajka city was the peak event of the winter tour, and the Band offered its revenue – thanks to MOL’s support -  to the victims of the red mud flood. In 2011, after the traditional spring tour, the Band attended several summer festivals, including the Sopron VOLT Festival, where the Band presented its clip titled (New day ahead” at a simulated MOL filling station. The Band closed the highly successful winter tour and the whole year in Debrecen.

The 2012 spring season began on April 5 at Gödöllő with one new member in the Band, and this was indeed a very exciting concert as this was the first time that fans could see the new guitar player of the trio from Debrecen.

Though the set up did change, the timetable remained the same: after the April concerts fans can again meet the Band during the summer festival season.
