"Plant Trees in the Tatra Mountains!"

Thanks to drivers and MOL sponsorship, more than five hundred thousand new trees were planted in the Tatra Mountains, which had been severely hit by thunderstorms.

Vehicle drivers purchased 47,000 highway entry decals during the "Plant Trees in the Tatra Mountains!" campaign launched by MOL in Hungary in December 2004. Adding to this the 131,000 decals sold in Slovakia, drivers supported the reforestation of the Tatra Mountains with a total of SK 3.4 million (cc. HUF 21.4 million).

We can all recall the heavy thunderstorms that swept through the Tatra Mountains in November 2004, annihilating more than twelve thousand hectares of forest. The campaign, which is a testimony to international cooperation and solidarity, was launched to rescue the mountains that are the national symbols of Slovakia, and it surpassed every expectation.

Everyone who purchased highway entry decals with a campaign logo at Slovnaft gas stations in Slovakia and at MOL stations in Hungary joined the campaign launched to rehabilitate the fauna and flora of the severely damaged Tatra Mountains. Each sticker cost SK 15 or HUF 200. An NGO called "Plant Trees in the Tatra Mountains!" was assigned to allocate the amount collected. This organization guaranteed that the contribution was allocated to channels where it was most needed.

The MOL Corporate Group pays great attention to nature and the environment as part of its social responsibility. Following the natural disaster that had severely damaged and annihilated a large part of the forests in the Tatra Mountains, MOL Group immediately offered its help. The company offered SK 15 million to TANAP State Forestry Agency for the purpose of reforestation after the devastating thunderstorms. The aid of Slovnaft was supplemented with a further SK 5 million by MOL, its strategic partner.

This donation of SK 20 million in total (HUF 125.6 million) made MOL the most generous corporate group in Slovakia to support the recovery of the Tatra Mountains, and the aforesaid amount grew to SK 23.4 million (HUF 147 million) with the extra help provided by drivers.
