The Hungarian Red Cross is an affiliated member of the international care organization, and it is still an active member of the Red Cross Movement.
The operation of the Hungarian Red Cross in Hungary has remained uninterrupted in the past 125 years. It has been a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) since 1919. Since 1992, the respective President of the Republic of Hungary has concurrently been the main patron of the Hungarian Red Cross.
The Hungarian Red Cross has been taking action in the organization of free blood giving sessions since 1939. The organization launched its medical truck equipped with blood taking appliances in fall 2006, which event was also sponsored by MOL. The success of this action is justly demonstrated by the facts that the truck was visited by more than 1100 blood givers at 26 sites just within one month at the end of 2006, and the vehicle took a total of 1770 km. MOL and the Hungarian Red Cross signed a three-year term contract to sponsor this project, so the truck will keep hitting the road…
