Safe car fill-up

We request you to always observe and follow the safety procedures during filling up your car in your and your family’s interest and safety. Safety procedures and signs are displayed and can be easily seen in all MOL filling stations. In this page you can see and study the detailed safety procedures and also a safety animation.

  • When arriving at a filling station, please reduce speed! Hitting a dispenser is the most frequent accident at filling stations.
  • Before starting filling up your car, please always:
  • Stop the car engine!
    • Fix the car with the hand brake!
    • Put the clutch into neutral gear!
    • Switch or shut off all instrument that may cause fire!
  • Please never smoke during fill up or use open flame – matches or lighter!
  • Never use your mobile phone when filling up the car!
  • The human body may be statically charged with electricity during fill up operations. This can cause exposure to fire or explosion, but this risk can be easily prevented by touching any metallic object at hand, like the car door.

  • When you fill fuel into can, please use only licensed motor fuel can! Never use glasses or plastic bottle (e.g. soft drink bottle)!
  • Never fill motor fuel into a can kept inside the car or in the boot, or on the pick up area or on the floor of a trailer!
  • When filling fuel into the can, always keep the can on the ground! Thus you can prevent that the gasoline vapour might eventually get fire due to static energy.
  • Put the nozzle into the opening of the can so that they are in contact and remain in contact throughout the fill up process!
  • Fill up the can only maximum to 95% so that sufficient space is left for the motor fuel to expand!
  • After filling the can, close it carefully!
  • When transporting motor gasoline in can, you should make sure that it can not turn upside down! Keep it away from direct sunshine, and never leave it in the boot of the car!
  • Protect your eyes and skin, avoid any direct contact with the gasoline, as it might cause irritation!
