Third party insurance (in Hungarian: GFB) is mandatory for all types of motor vehicles (including passenger car, truck, motorbike, or even a scooter without plate number). A specific law decree regulates the liability insurance, and the primary goal is that this insurance can cover all damages we may cause to other parties. No vehicle is allowed to participate in public traffic, otherwise drivers will face serious penalties and a fairly good chance to pay for the damages from its own pocket.

Voluntary vehicle insurance

The purpose of the voluntary vehicle insurance is to provide indemnification for damages caused to the vehicle we own or use. This general voluntary vehicle insurance can cover damages due to accidents (in the chasse, etc.), whether we cause the accident or an unknown person causes damages, natural disaster or fire, theft of the car or its parts, but the policy may be supplemented and can contain baggage, extras and accident insurance module, or even a car rental or assistance service.
