After a widespread consultation process with the management of the Exploration and Production of MOL Plc. the authors summarised the professional activity of the Division.
The scope of activities covers the whole upstream process from generating exploration project ideas to supply the
produced and prepared hydrocarbon into pipelines.
From geographical point of view the presence of the Division spreads from Western Africa to Siberia. In the latest fifteen years the hydrocarbon exploration and production of MOL have become more and more international.
MOL has 11 exploration sites in 8 countries and produces hydrocarbons in 3 countries. The growth is significant both in traditional and new core areas. During this growing process the harmonizing of cultures is a key challenge. The authors review the main components of the hydrocarbon exploration and production processes. The most up-to-date geological evaluation, drilling and production methods ensure the continuous presence in traditional regions and generate opportunities in new countries. The research and development of the Division focuses all technological challenges both hydrocarbon exploration and production as well as carbon capture and geothermal energy. Not only personal knowledge exists but also organisational competences are dominant in the Division. The willingness to make sacrifices of predecessors as well as utilization of the technical and scientific results of the world hydrocarbon industry provides the opportunity to achieve all strategic objectives of the Division at present, in the first decade of the 21st century.
