A consortium for R&D was founded to develop and test effective and economical technologies facilitating the decrease of environmental risks.

Taking into account that most hydrocarbon pollutants generated during oil refining can be utilized by a wide variety of microorganisms as carbon and energy sources, the consortium decided to focus on chemical/microbiological technologies based on national and international research data primarily.
