The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico will be remembered as a landmark case which might possibly cause significant changes in the oil and gas industry as much as the 1989 Exxon Valdez case did.
It was not only the sheer amount of oil spilled into the Gulf and it was not only the 11 dead workers, it was the obvious mistakes made as events unfolded that make this incident so remarkable. This article is based on its findings from the communications point of view. It investigates the affair from two directions.
