In this paper the catalysts applied for the hydrodearomatization in oil refinery middle distillates are summarized.
The classifi cation of these catalysts is shown. The type of transition metal/support catalysts and their applicability for hydrodearomatization and the direction of their development are detailed. The significance of improving the hydrodearomatization activity of these catalysts, especially, in the case of deep heteroatom removal is detailed. The new NiMo/Al2O3 and NiMnMo/Al2O3 catalysts are discussed. The classification options, types, development trends and limit of applicability of noble metal/support catalysts (with special attention to Pt-Pd/USY catalysts) applied in the deep hydrodearomatization are detailed. With in the tolerance to heteroatoms, its influencing factors (e.g. quantity and quality of active metals, acidity of support), its improving possibilities are discussed.
