This paper depicts the challenges that Slovnaft Refinery had to face during the “gas crisis” (natural gas shortage) in Europe. Natural gas is one of the most important utility used in Refinery.
It is used as feed for steam reformers (approx. 60% of the supply) to produce hydrogen, for burning in furnaces and as the blanketing medium in storage tanks. Natural gas supply forced reduction had a serious impact on Refinery operation.
